The latest Opencard edition has been launched. This new edition allows you to use an electronic time voucher instead of a public transport season ticket, and it is valid for all zones of the Prague Integrated Transport System (PID). Those, who obtained Opencard before 1st August 2008, can have the new service applied to their card at Opencard contact points up to 11th August 2008.
One year vouchers for the year 2009 will be available only in electronic form. You have to own an Opencard if you wish to purchase one.
Electronic vouchers: how to get them and how much they cost
You can buy vouchers at one of the Opencard contact points.
Currently you can buy:
- 30 day and 90 day non-transferable adult, child, junior, student and senior vouchers:
- Their function is the same as the current paper flexible vouchers. You can choose the date from which you want your voucher to be activated; this can be from 1st October 2008, onwards.
- You will still be able to purchase paper vouchers as well.
- You can also buy supplementary electronic vouchers for all zones of PID (Prague Integrated Transport). Their price stays the same. You can find the detailed price list at the ROPID website
- One year Opencard voucher for 2009:
- You can already buy this voucher in advance. It will be valid from 1st January 2009 at the earliest, and from 31st January 2009 at the latest.

Card inspection on public transport:
- Inspectors will be equipped with microform readers to check the validity of electronic vouchers.
- Students are also obliged to carry valid confirmation of their studies for use in the eventuality of an inspection.
- In suburban buses that are part of the Prague Integrated Transport System, it will be possible to check the validity of electronic vouchers in check-in machines.
