As opposed to the previous contract, the new licence conditions will enable the city management to entrust a different company with the operation of Prague Centre for Card Services. Apart from the extension of licence rights, the company Haguess, a.s. agreed to lower licence fees. In reality this means that Haguess, a.s. will issue another approx. 260 thousand cards for the City Prague without claiming any additional fees. The total number of licence rights and cards issued will amount to 650 thousand.
“Naturally I welcome the newly signed documents. As mayor, I have always placed high importance on our suppliers to do quality work for a good price. The Opencard project has a big potential but it wouldn’t be possible to carry on with it if it wasn’t for the new contract. I strongly believe that today begins a completely new chapter of the Opencard project,” said Mayor of Prague Pavel Bém.
Apart from the licences, the new contracts deal with the operation of the Prague Centre of Card Services (PCKS). Based on the contracts, Company HAGUESS, a.s. will arrange for the operation of PCKS by 30th June 2010. Further arrangements that concern operation of PCKS will be able to be solved with the help of an open selection procedure.
In comparison with previous conditions, the City will save more than CZK 120 million. The cost of an individual Opencard will be lowered to CZK 1,280, which is an amount comparable to other card systems in the Czech Republic. Additionally, this amount will further decrease with the increase in volume of cards issued.
