How to use the card

  • Where can I top up the card if I want to use it for payment of parking metres fees?

    The card can currently be used for smart card parking payment, to use this service the card must be credited with parking vouchers. The card can be topped up at an Opencard contact point.

  • Where can I find out what my balance is?

    At an Opencard contact point.

  • Where can I make a claim?

    Claims should be submitted at an Opencard contact point.

  • How should I handle the card?

    The card should be handled like every other electronic card. You must not bend it, break it or otherwise mechanically damage it. The card must also not be exposed to temperatures below – 10 °C or higher than 40 °C, or to the effects of alternating electric or magnetic fields.

  • What should I do if the card’s chip gets damaged?

    Damage is usually caused by rough physical handling of the card. An exception to this can be an internal defect. A non-functioning card is treated in the same way as making a claim. All card applications and services of the original card are transferred to the new card. Other information can be found in the section "I am a card owner".

  • When do I have to replace the card?

    You have to replace a card issued before 4th August 2008 if you want to use it as a public transport season ticket in Prague public transport.

    You have to replace the card if you change your name or if the photograph needs to be changed. Fees apply for this transaction.

    Any changes in your contact data need to be updated in Opencard’s database of customers. A standard form is used for this purpose, and is available at the Opencard contact point. The operation is free of charge.

  • Where are the exact conditions for the use of the card stated?

    OpenCard conditions of issue and use are part of the Card application form. It describes the rights and duties of the card holder.
