Opencard is an “intelligent” smart-card designed for Prague residents and visitors. It is issued by Prague City Hall. The aim of the project is to establish not only new ways of communication between the City and its citizens but also less complicated and more convenient access to the services provided by the City.
Current services
Opencard serves as a replacement to vouchers and tickets to some of the City’s institutions and services. You can also use it instead of Prague’s public transport season ticket; in this case paper travel vouchers are replaced by electronic ones. Opencard has also been accepted by 38 automated branches of the Municipal Library of Prague where it can be used instead of a library card.
Opencard can be used instead of coins when parking in paid zones. It is currently accepted by parking meters in city district Prague 1, 2,3 and 7.
The card serves as an access key. You can use it for easy and secure access to this site, Portal of Prague. A card owner can use it for services designated for registered users. Drivers can use the application "I know how I drive" to obtain information about their current traffic offences including information about penalties and the number of penalty points they may have incurred.
Card users are entitled for discounts at various municipal as well as private enterprises that are a part of the Municipal and Commercial Discount Programme.
