The plastic body of the card is very resistant to damage. However, the card has a chip and therefore you have to take certain precautions.
- You must not bend it, break it or otherwise mechanically damage it. For example, the aerial of the chip would be damaged if you made a hole in the card to hang it around your neck.
- The card also must not be exposed to temperatures below – 10 °C or higher than 40 °C or to the effects of alternating electric or magnetic fields.
It is very easy to use it in card-readers. Contactless transfer of data between the chip and reader happens when you place the card within four centimetres of the reader.
