There are two types of Opencard depending on the type of the chip used:
OPENCARD
Contains only one contactless chip
This is a standard version of Opencard.
It can be used for all services that are part of the Opencard project:
- Payment for parking
- Public transport vouchers
- Identification in the Municipal Library of Prague
- Discount programmes
The card will be issued approximately 7 to 14 days after the submission of the application.
OPENCARD WITH CONTACT CHIP
It contains both a contactless and contact chip
As opposed to the standard Opencard, it offers an additional option to save an electronic certificate, which has to be arranged separately. This is most commonly used for example as an electronic signature.
This card is issued only in Opencard Customer Centres in Palace Adria and in Škoda Palace on request; it takes approximately 14 to 30 days to produce and costs CZK 300.
The card can be used for all Opencard programme services:
- Parking fee payments,
- Prague Integrated Transport vouchers,
- Identification in Prague Municipal Library and National Technical Library,
- Discount programmes,
- Safe logging on to Portal of Prague – e.g. to the service I Know, How I Drive
